North Augusta

The North Augusta District covers a large area and encompasses the urban downtown and the surrounding suburbs. The Master Plan identified many projects for North Augusta including one Market Creation Project, the North Augusta Town Center.

Cnversations have started in early 2012 regarding first steps to implementing this Market Creation Project.

Market Creation Project - North Augusta Town Center

Market Creation Projects are high impact initiatives that can set a new direction for an area. Market Creation Projects are typically located adjacent to key resources and attributes such as water, transportation corridors, historical settings and cultural venues. The projects are aimed to make large and positive impacts on their areas.

The Big Idea: A town center can be created around the new municipal building.

Cost: $50 million private, $5 million public

Details: Create a vibrant main street down Georgia Avenue through a restored historic park, additional streetscaping, a mid-rise hotel of 100 rooms with conference center, more than 180,000 square feet of commercial retail space.

Time: 5 to 10 years
