Dyess Park Canal Village
Market Creation Project - Dyess Park Canal Village
As part of the Laney Walker neighborhood, this area centers on Walton Way, 9th Street, Dyess Park and the Third Level of the Augusta Canal at its eastern terminus. The area has the potential to grow into the Greene and Telfair residential neighbohoods and into downtown.
Residential development around Dyess Park and the Third Level of the Augusta Canal will create a high-quality affordable neighborhood of renovated and new housing. The project would also capitalize on the presence of the recently built Judicial Center and Courthouse to create a new neighborhood commercial center.
Market Creation Projects are high impact initiatives that can set a new direction for an area. Market Creation Projects are typically located adjacent to key resources and attributes such as water, transportation corridors, historical settings and cultural venues. The projects are aimed to make large and positive impacts on their areas.
